Driver Training (Basic) - Online Course Information
Tuition: $195 per seat (multiple seat discounts available)
Prerequisite: None
Materials: No materials are required, but it would be beneficial to have a copy of the current 49CFR Regulations. Please call JJ Keller 800-843-3174 or Labelmaster 800-358-6200 to purchase a copy.

Time Required: 4-6 hours
Who should take this course? Suitable for drivers who do not inspect cargo. If someone else is inspecting the package (i.e. verifying package spec numbers, contents, etc.) and the driver is only transporting the product, this course will meet the requirements. Otherwise the DOT Motor Carrier Acceptance training course is required.
Examples:
Route driver who picks-up already inspected cargo at carrier / forwarder and delivers to customer.
Trucking company where someone on the dock does all the inspecting of packages before they are given to a driver to take out for delivery. Thus, the driver only needs to have the basic awareness, safety and security training plus the driver function specific training.
A trucker who just transport one hazard product.
This course includes: General Awareness and Safety, Hazmat Security Awareness.
Are any additional training courses required?
Function Specific Training - Ultimately (in the United States) your employer has final responsibility for determining if a hazmat employee is properly trained for their particular job function. Since there is a potential for limitless types of job functions as determined by an individual employer, we as your training provider can only suggest what types of additional training might be required.
For the best Online Training experience:
Able to work independently without an instructor present.
Familiar with the use of a computer and common software.
Knowledge or understanding of the applicable regulations.
Fluent in the English language.
It is recommended you use Internet Explorer.
High-speed connection is recommended, but not required.
You can log in and out of the training program at any time, and as often as you wish (except during the exam where you must complete the course in one sitting) Logging out during the exam will lock you out of the program and the entire exam must be taken again.
Log out if you must leave your desk. The program may lock up if your computer is left idle for more than 10 minutes.
Ensure sound is turned on and the volume is up as these courses have audio files.
